John Whaite’s Kitchen

Class Instructions

Thank you for booking a class at John Whaite’s Kitchen. We look forward to welcoming you into our 400-year-old barn (don’t worry there are no ghosts or ghouls here; just the haunting smells of delicious food and bakes). Before you arrive, we ask that you have a very thorough read through the below to ensure you’ve got all the information you require.

Contacting Us

If you need to contact us before the day, just send an email to hello@johnwhaiteskitchen.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Allergies

It is vital you alert us of any allergies or dietary requirements immediately, so we can advise whether or not the class is suitable for you. While we try to alter recipes according to allergies, sometimes it just isn’t possible, and so we’d have to request you change to a different class. Please let us know at hello@johnwhaiteskitchen.com.

What to Bring

Just yourself, comfortable shoes, and appropriate clothing. We will provide everything else. We would recommend that you bring a large, sturdy Tupperware box with you, should you wish to take the food you create home – while we do provide cardboard boxes, these sometimes collapse in on themselves as you rush to catch a train, or can go a little soggy in our blustery British weather.

When to Arrive

All of our classes start at 10am unless otherwise stated. We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes before the class start time, but no earlier than 15 minutes before. If you are running late, please contact the school on 07756149581 (this number is not to be used except for late running on the day of a class). Full day classes will finish around 4pm, but this could be as late as 5pm if the class runs late (we don’t want to rush our lunch now, do we?).

Cancellations

While we cannot offer any refunds on booked classes after 14 days from the date the booking was made (see our terms of purchase here), you can transfer your booking to a different name or class up to 4 weeks (28 days) before the class date. Please email us at hello@johnwhaiteskitchen.com if you need to make amendments to the booking.

Getting To Us

By Car

The school is located at Tunley Hall, Tunley Lane, Wrightington, WN6 9RJ.  We are not far from Junction 27 of the M6 (about a mile). We have on site parking so do feel free to roll up. The postcode will work for a sat nav, but it won’t bring you quite far enough. Cross the little humpback bridge and there will be a ramp on your right (after a track). Go up the ramp and park the car.

BY Train

The closest major train station is Wigan North Western. A taxi from here to the school will take about 25 minutes and cost between 15 and 20 pounds.

Where to stay

There are plenty of hotels nearby. The nicest is the Wrightington Hotel and Country Club, see their website here: http://www.wrightingtonhotel.co.uk
